Ftp Upload
What This Page Does
This page lets you quickly upload multiple video files to your site at once without filling out detailed information for each video. Just drag and drop your files, and they'll automatically process in the background. The system will extract video details like resolution and duration, create titles from your filenames, and prepare everything for playback on your site.
This is perfect for bulk uploading large video collections where you can add detailed descriptions and tags later.
How to Get Here
Navigate to Admin Panel > Videos > FTP Video Upload
Understanding the Page
When you first open the FTP Video Upload page, you'll see several main areas:
Statistics Bar
At the top, four colored boxes show you the current status of your uploads:
- Queued - Files waiting to start uploading
- Uploading - Files currently being uploaded
- Completed - Files that finished uploading successfully
- Failed - Files that encountered errors
These numbers update in real time as files move through the upload process.
Upload Area (Drop Zone)
The large bordered area in the middle is where you add files. You can either drag files from your computer onto this area, or click the Browse Files button to select files using a file picker.
Below the drop zone, you'll see important information:
- Maximum file size - The largest file you can upload (typically 5 GB)
- Concurrent uploads - How many files can upload at the same time (typically 5)
- Supported formats - Green badges showing all the video formats accepted (MP4, AVI, MOV, etc.)
Upload Queue
Below the upload area is the queue where you'll see all the files you've added. Each file shows:
- Filename and file size
- Progress bar with percentage
- Current status (queued, uploading, completed, or error)
- Upload speed (MB/s)
- Action buttons (Cancel, Retry, Remove, etc.)
Common Tasks
How to Upload Videos
When to use this: You have multiple video files to add to your site and want to upload them all at once without entering detailed information for each one.
- Navigate to Admin Panel > Videos > FTP Video Upload
- Review the supported formats shown in green badges to make sure your files will work
- Add your files using either method:
- Drag and Drop: Drag video files from your computer directly onto the upload area
- Browse: Click the Browse Files button and select one or more files
- Watch the progress bars for each file as they upload
- Check the statistics at the top to see how many files are queued, uploading, completed, or failed
- Wait for all files to show the green "Done" status
How to Monitor Upload Progress
- Look at the progress bar under each filename - it shows the percentage completed
- Check the status message below the progress bar:
- "Queued" means waiting to start
- "Uploading chunk X of Y" shows active progress
- "Upload complete" means the file finished successfully
- Watch the upload speed display to estimate time remaining
- Monitor the statistics boxes at the top for an overview of all uploads
How to Manage the Queue
Start All: Click this green button to start or resume uploading all queued files.
Pause All: Click this orange button to temporarily stop all active uploads. Files return to "Queued" status and can be restarted later with Start All.
Clear Completed: Click this gray button to remove all successfully uploaded files from the list and clean up the display.
How to Handle Individual Files
Each file in the queue has action buttons on the right side:
Cancel (appears while queued or uploading):
- Click the Cancel button next to the filename
- The file stops uploading and is removed from the queue
Retry (appears after an error):
- Click the Retry button next to the failed file
- The upload starts over from the beginning
- Watch the progress bar to make sure it completes this time
Remove (appears after completion or error):
- Click the Remove button to delete the item from the list
- The file disappears from the queue
How to Check Your Uploaded Videos
After files finish uploading, they need to be processed before appearing on your site. This happens automatically but takes a few minutes.
- Wait 5-10 minutes after uploading completes
- Go to Admin Panel > Videos > Video List
- Look for your newly added videos - they'll have titles based on your filenames
- Videos may show "Processing" status while thumbnails and streaming files are created
- Once status changes to "Active," the videos are live on your site
- Click on any video to edit its title, description, tags, and other details
What the Options Mean
Maximum File Size
This shows the largest single file you can upload through this page. The default is 5 GB. If you have larger files, you'll need to compress them first or contact your site administrator to increase this limit.
Concurrent Uploads
This number (typically 5) controls how many files upload at the same time. When you add 10 files, the first 5 start immediately, and the next 5 wait in the queue. As each file finishes, the next one in line starts automatically.
Supported Formats
The green format badges show which video file types are accepted. Common formats include:
- MP4 - Most widely compatible format
- AVI - Older Windows video format
- MOV - Common for videos from Mac/iPhone
- WMV - Windows Media Video
- WebM - Modern web video format
- MKV - High-quality container format
- And 18+ additional formats
If your file format isn't listed, you'll need to convert it to a supported format before uploading.
Demo Mode
When demo mode is active:
- You can see the page and all its features
- Attempting to add files shows an alert message
- No files can be uploaded until demo mode is turned off
Tips for New Users
- Use clear filenames - They become video titles, so "Beach Vacation 2025.mp4" is better than "VID00123.mp4"
- Upload during off-peak hours - Larger files upload faster when fewer people are using the site
- Check the Video List after processing - Verify your videos appeared and edit any details
- Don't close the browser tab - Keep the upload page open until all files show "Done"
- For videos needing detailed info - Use the Enhanced Video Uploader instead (Admin Panel > Videos > Video Upload) if you want to add descriptions, tags, and categories during upload
- Group similar videos - Upload related content together so you can batch-edit them later
- Test with one file first - If uploading many videos, try one first to make sure everything works
Troubleshooting
My file won't upload - it says "Invalid format"
What you see: An alert appears saying the file format isn't allowed.
How to fix it:
- Check the green format badges on the page to see what's accepted
- Make sure your file has the correct extension (.mp4, .avi, .mov, etc.)
- If your format isn't supported, use video conversion software to change it to MP4
- Try uploading the converted file
The upload says "File too large"
What you see: An alert appears showing your filename and the maximum allowed size.
How to fix it:
- Check the maximum file size shown on the page (typically 5 GB)
- Use video compression software to reduce your file size
- Lower the video resolution or bitrate when re-encoding
- If you regularly need to upload larger files, contact your site administrator about increasing the limit
Upload failed or shows an error message
What you see: The file's status shows "Error:" followed by a message, and the progress bar turns red.
How to fix it:
- Click the Retry button next to the failed file
- If it fails again, check your internet connection
- Try refreshing the page and uploading again
- If the problem persists, contact your site administrator with the error message
Uploads are very slow
What you see: Progress bars barely move and upload speeds are low.
How to fix it:
- Check your internet connection speed
- Close other programs using your internet connection
- Use Pause All to stop some uploads, leaving only 1-2 active
- Try uploading during off-peak hours (late evening or early morning)
- Consider uploading smaller files or fewer files at once
Upload completed but video doesn't appear on my site
What you see: The file shows "Done" but you can't find it on the website.
How to fix it:
- Wait 5-10 minutes - processing takes time
- Go to Admin Panel > Videos > Video List
- Look for videos with "Processing" status - these are still being prepared
- Check if the video status says "Error" - if so, there was a processing problem
- If after 15 minutes the video still doesn't appear in the Video List, contact your site administrator
Video is in the list but won't play
What you see: Your video appears in the admin Video List but shows "Processing" status or won't play on the site.
How to fix it:
- Check the video's status in Admin Panel > Videos > Video List
- If it says "Processing," wait a few more minutes
- If it still won't work after 15 minutes, there may be a processing problem
- Contact your site administrator if the status shows "Error"
I accidentally uploaded the wrong file
What you see: You realize you uploaded a file you didn't mean to.
How to fix it:
- If the upload is still in progress, click Cancel to stop it
- If it already completed:
- Go to Admin Panel > Videos > Video List
- Find the video (it will have the filename as its title)
- Click on it and choose to delete it
- Confirm the deletion
All my files show "Queued" but nothing is uploading
What you see: Files appear in the queue but progress bars never start moving.
How to fix it:
- Click the Start All button at the top of the queue
- Check if you accidentally clicked Pause All
- Refresh the page and try adding files again
- Check your internet connection
- Try uploading a single small file to test if uploads are working at all
The page won't let me add files
What you see: Nothing happens when you drag files or click Browse Files.
How to fix it:
- Check for an orange "Demo Mode" banner - uploads may be disabled
- Refresh the page and try again
- Make sure you're dragging video files, not other file types
- Try using the Browse Files button instead of drag-and-drop
- Check if your browser is blocking the file picker
