# Video Details

## What This Page Does

This page gives you a complete view of a single video on your site. You can edit its title, description, categories, tags, models, thumbnails, chapters, scheduling, pricing, and SEO settings -- all from one place. You can also review how the video is performing, handle user reports, and preview the video using the built-in player.

---

## How to Get Here

1. Go to **Admin Panel > Content > Videos**.
2. Find the video you want to manage.
3. Click the video's thumbnail, title, or detail icon.
4. The Video Details panel opens on top of the video list.

---

## Understanding the Page

When you open Video Details, you see a panel with the video's ID number in a green badge and the video title at the top. Below that, the page is divided into multiple sections that you can show, hide, and reorder to match the way you like to work.

### Section Visibility Controls

At the top of the page, a green bar contains a row of toggle cards. Each card controls the visibility of one section on the page.

- **Toggle a section on or off** by clicking its switch.
- **Reorder sections** by dragging a card by its handle (the `::` icon) to a new position. The matching section on the page moves to follow.
- Your visibility and order preferences are remembered automatically, so the page looks the same every time you come back.

The available section toggles are: Player, Technical, Engagement, Analytics, Thumbnails, Chapters, Media, Metadata, Schedule, Sponsors, SEO & Social, Production, Content Flags, User Reports, Storage Server, and File Paths.

[tip]Hide sections you rarely use to keep the page clean and focused on what matters to you.[/tip]

### Auto-Save

Every field on this page saves automatically when you finish editing it. You do not need to click a save button. Just make your change and click somewhere else -- the update is saved right away.

[success]The **Save All Changes** button at the bottom is purely for visual reassurance. Clicking it briefly displays a confirmation message, but your changes were already saved the moment you finished typing or selecting.[/success]

## Tips for New Users

[tip]
- Start by setting the **Title**, **Description**, **Categories**, and **Main Thumbnail** for each video. These are the most important fields for attracting viewers.
- Use the **Featured** checkbox sparingly. Featuring too many videos dilutes the impact of your homepage carousels.
- Fill in the **SEO fields** (Meta Title and Meta Description) for your most important videos to improve search engine visibility.
- Use **Chapters** on longer videos to help viewers find the parts they are interested in.
- Check the **User Reports** section regularly to address any issues visitors have flagged.
- Use **Admin Notes** to keep track of any decisions or changes you make so other administrators can see the context.
[/tip]

## Troubleshooting

### Video not playing in the preview player

**What you see:** The player shows a black screen or an error message.

**How to fix it:**
1. Scroll down to the **File Paths** section and click on the **Main Video** link.
2. If the link does not load, the video file may not be available on the storage server. Check the **Storage Server** section for the server's health status.
3. If the video has **HLS Enabled** checked, try unchecking it temporarily to see if the standard video file plays instead.
4. If the problem persists, the video may need to be reprocessed. Go to **Admin Panel > Content > Videos**, find the video, and check its processing status.

### Changes do not seem to be saving

**What you see:** You edit a field but the value reverts or does not appear to stick.

**How to fix it:**
1. Refresh the page and check whether the change actually saved. Auto-save works in the background and the value may have been saved even if you did not see a confirmation.
2. If the change is truly not saving, your session may have expired. Log out and log back in, then try again.
3. Make sure you are clicking outside the field after editing. Changes save when you leave the field, not while you are still typing.

### Thumbnail buttons are grayed out

**What you see:** The green **M** (set main) and red **D** (delete) buttons on a thumbnail are faded and not clickable.

**How to fix it:** This happens when a thumbnail's record is incomplete. The thumbnail image is visible but cannot be managed through these buttons. Try reprocessing the video to regenerate the thumbnails properly.

### Chapters not loading

**What you see:** The Chapters section shows a loading message that never goes away, or no chapters appear even after adding them.

**How to fix it:**
1. Click the **Refresh** button in the Chapters section to reload the chapter list.
2. If the problem continues, refresh the entire page.
3. If chapters still do not appear, contact your system administrator to verify the chapters feature is set up correctly.

### Video stuck in Processing status

**What you see:** The video status shows **Processing** and never changes to **Active**.

**How to fix it:**
1. Check the **Processing** tab in the Analytics section to see if a start time was recorded.
2. If the video has been processing for an unusually long time (more than an hour for a standard video), contact your system administrator. There may be an issue with the video processing system.

### Storage migration fails

**What you see:** You try to migrate files to a different server but get an error message.

**How to fix it:**
1. Make sure the destination server shows a green (healthy) or amber (warning) status. Servers with red (critical) or gray (unknown) status cannot be selected.
2. Verify that the destination server has enough storage space for the video files.
3. Try again after a few minutes. The issue may be temporary.
4. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.
