Video Queue Visualizer

What This Page Does

The Video Queue Visualizer helps you see which videos are being processed right now and which ones are waiting in line. It shows all your pending videos organized by priority level, so you can speed up important videos or cancel ones you don't need anymore. The page updates automatically every 15 seconds to show you the latest status.

How to Get Here

Navigate to Admin Panel > Videos > Queue Visualizer

You can also access it from the Video Processor Dashboard by clicking the Queue button in the header.

Understanding the Page

When you first open this page, you'll see several key areas:

Statistics Bar

At the top of the page, four summary cards show you the current state of your video processing:

  • Currently Processing -- How many videos are being worked on right now
  • Pending Jobs -- Total number of videos waiting to be processed
  • Available Slots -- How many more videos can be processed at the same time
  • Concurrent Jobs -- Shows how many videos are being processed out of the maximum allowed (for example, "2/3" means 2 videos are processing and you can handle up to 3 at once)

These numbers update automatically every 15 seconds.

The Queue Columns

Below the statistics, you'll see four columns that organize your videos:

  1. Currently Processing (green) -- Videos being worked on right now
  2. High Priority (red) -- Urgent videos waiting to be processed next
  3. Medium Priority (amber) -- Normal priority videos
  4. Low Priority (blue) -- Less urgent videos that will be processed last

Each video appears as a card in one of these columns. Videos move through the columns automatically as they get processed.

Navigation Buttons

At the top right of the page, you'll see four buttons:

  • Dashboard -- Returns to the main Video Processor Dashboard
  • Settings -- Opens the processor settings page
  • Queue -- This current page (highlighted)
  • Refresh -- Manually refresh the page to see the latest status

Common Tasks

How to Check Processing Status

You can quickly see what's happening with your videos:

  1. Look at the Currently Processing column on the left to see which videos are being worked on.
  2. Each processing video shows a green progress bar indicating how far along it is.
  3. Processing videos have a pulsing animation so they're easy to spot.
  4. Check the "Duration" field to see how long each video has been processing.

The page refreshes automatically every 15 seconds, so you don't need to do anything to see updates.

Tip: If you need to see the status right away, click the Refresh button at the top of the page.

How to Make a Video Process Faster (Change Priority)

If you have an urgent video that needs to go live quickly, you can move it to the front of the line:

  1. Find the video card in one of the three waiting columns (High, Medium, or Low Priority).
  2. Click the green bolt icon button on that video's card.
  3. A priority slider appears in the center of your screen.
  4. Drag the slider to the right to increase priority (1 is lowest, 10 is highest).
  5. Watch the number above the slider change as you drag.
  6. Click Save to apply the new priority.
  7. The page refreshes automatically and the video moves to its new priority column.
Tip: Use priority 8-10 for videos that need to go live immediately, like trending content or paid uploads. Use priority 1-4 for bulk imports or old content that isn't urgent.

How to Cancel a Video

If you uploaded the wrong video or no longer need it processed:

  1. Find the video card in any column.
  2. Click the red X button on that card.
  3. A confirmation dialog appears asking if you're sure.
  4. Click OK to confirm the cancellation.
  5. The page refreshes and the video disappears from the queue.
Warning: Canceling removes the video from the processing queue completely. The video file will remain on your server, but it won't be converted or made available to viewers unless you upload it again.

How to Monitor Progress

Each video card shows different information depending on whether it's being processed or waiting:

For videos being processed:

  • A green progress bar showing the percentage complete
  • How many minutes it has been processing
  • The original filename
  • The type of processing being done (like "transcode" or "generate thumbnails")

For videos waiting in queue:

  • How many minutes it has been waiting
  • The file size in megabytes
  • The current priority level (like "5/10")
  • The type of processing it will receive

Understanding Priority Levels

Videos are organized into three priority groups:

Priority Range Column Processing Order When to Use
8-10 High Priority (red) Processed first Urgent content that needs to go live immediately
5-7 Medium Priority (amber) Processed after high Normal day-to-day uploads
1-4 Low Priority (blue) Processed last Bulk imports, archival content, low-priority videos

Within each priority level, older videos are processed before newer ones. This means if you have two videos both at priority 7, the one that was uploaded first will be processed first.

Note: Changing a video's priority only affects videos that are waiting. If a video is already being processed (in the green "Currently Processing" column), you cannot change its priority until it finishes.

View Modes

The page automatically arranges the four columns to fit your screen:

  • Wide screens (1200px+) -- All four columns appear side by side
  • Medium screens (768px-1200px) -- Columns stack into fewer rows
  • Small screens (below 768px) -- One column at a time for easy scrolling

You don't need to do anything to switch views. The page adapts automatically to your browser window size.

Tips for New Users

Tip:
  • The page refreshes automatically every 15 seconds, so leave it open to monitor progress in real-time.
  • Videos with higher priority numbers (8-10) get processed before lower priority videos (1-4).
  • If you have many videos waiting, consider increasing the "maximum concurrent jobs" setting to process more at once.
  • Check the "Available Slots" card to see if you can process more videos simultaneously.
  • Videos usually take longer to process the first time (for conversion) than for simple tasks like thumbnails.
  • If a video has been processing for more than an hour, it may be stuck. Check the troubleshooting section below.

Troubleshooting

Videos aren't appearing on the site after upload

What you see: You uploaded a video, but it's not showing up on your website.

How to fix it:

  1. Check if the video appears in the Queue Visualizer.
  2. If it's in the Currently Processing column, wait a few minutes for it to finish. Large videos can take longer.
  3. If it's in one of the waiting columns (High, Medium, or Low Priority), it will be processed when slots become available.
  4. If you don't see it in any column, check the Video Management page to see if it failed processing or was already completed.

Priority changes aren't saving

What you see: You change a video's priority, click Save, but it stays in the same column.

How to fix it:

  1. Make sure you clicked the Save button in the priority modal, not just closed it.
  2. Wait for the page to refresh (it happens automatically after saving).
  3. If it still doesn't work, refresh the page manually using the Refresh button and try again.
  4. Check if you're in demo mode (look for an orange banner at the top). Demo mode prevents changes.

Videos stuck processing for a long time

What you see: A video has been in the "Currently Processing" column for over an hour and doesn't seem to be making progress.

How to fix it:

  1. Large videos (over 1 GB) can take a long time. Check the progress bar to see if it's moving.
  2. If the progress bar hasn't changed in 30 minutes, the job may be stuck.
  3. Try canceling the stuck job using the red X button.
  4. After canceling, the video will automatically be re-queued for another processing attempt.
  5. If problems persist, contact your site administrator to check the processor logs.

No videos in any column

What you see: All four columns say "No jobs" or show empty states.

How to fix it:

  1. This is normal if you don't have any videos currently uploading or processing.
  2. Upload a new video to see it appear in one of the waiting columns.
  3. If you just uploaded a video but don't see it, go to the Video Management page to check if it was added to the system.

Cancel button doesn't work

What you see: You click the red X button but nothing happens.

How to fix it:

  1. Look for an orange banner at the top of the page. If you see one, demo mode is active and buttons are disabled.
  2. Make sure you confirmed the cancellation when the popup dialog appeared.
  3. Check if your browser blocked the popup. Some browsers prevent confirmation dialogs.
  4. Try refreshing the page and attempting the cancel again.

The page shows negative "Available Slots"

What you see: The Available Slots card shows a negative number like "-1".

How to fix it:

  1. This happens when more videos are processing than your system is configured to handle.
  2. Wait for the currently processing videos to finish, and the number will return to normal.
  3. If you want to process more videos at once, go to Video Processor Settings and increase the "Maximum Concurrent Jobs" value.

Page When to Use It
Video Processor Dashboard To see overall statistics, completed jobs, and historical processing data
Video Processor Settings To change how many videos can be processed at once or adjust other processing settings
Video Management To see all videos on your site, including ones that have finished processing
Video Upload To add new videos to your site

Additional Information

Auto-Refresh

The page updates itself every 15 seconds automatically. You'll see the latest processing status without needing to click anything. If you have the priority modal open when the page refreshes, the modal will close and you'll need to reopen it.

Tip: If you're in the middle of changing a priority, save your changes quickly before the 15-second refresh happens.

What the Colors Mean

  • Green -- Currently being processed or success states
  • Red -- High priority or cancel actions
  • Amber/Yellow -- Medium priority or warnings
  • Blue -- Low priority or informational items

Processing Animation

Videos in the "Currently Processing" column pulse gently to show they're actively being worked on. This makes it easy to see at a glance which videos are being converted right now.

When Demo Mode is Active

If you see an orange banner at the top of the page that says "Demo Mode," all buttons that change things (priority changes, cancel actions) will be disabled. You can still view the queue and see real-time updates, but you can't make any changes. This is a safety feature to prevent accidental modifications during demonstrations.
